CEO OF WARNER MUSIC GROUP FINE 6.7 MILLION AND FACES JAIL TIME

Edgar Bronfman, Jr., CEO of Warner Music Group faces 15 months in prison and a fine of $6.7 million for mistakes made at Vivendi Universal.

Warner CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr. is facing jail time and heavy fines for misconduct at his previous position at Vivendi Universal. While holding an executive position at Vivendi, The Associated Press reports that Bronfman conveyed "false or misleading information" about the company, along with manipulating stock prices. The verdict was delivered Friday, January 21st in a French court. Bronfman plans to appeal.

“I am disappointed that the court differed with both the Paris public prosecutor and the lead civil claimant in the case, APPAC, who both took the position that I should be acquitted,” Bronfman said in his statement. “As I have consistently stated, my trades were proper.”

As of right now, Bronfman faces a suspended 15-month prison sentence, along with $6.7 million in fines. The sentencing is currently in limbo upon further investigation.

This news arrives just as Warner Music Group hired Goldman Sachs to handle a possible sale of Warner Music Group. While Warner is in their sales transition, they may lose their CEO in the process

Mr Real Estate - Goin Duffy [Unsigned Hype]

Mr. Real Estate

Mr. Real Estate aka Big Unk born in Natchitoches, LA, which is a small town 60 miles south of Shreveport. He got his name from his nephew calling him "unk" rather than uncle. During his childhood, Mr Real Estate and his family struggled financially, which they were barely able to make due growing up. He was raised in the projects and didn't have much to work with considering his financial disadvantages. He had to do like many of us do today and make it work with what he had. As a teenager, he hustled, trying to make money to survive. Mr Real Estate knows firsthand what it means to have to work to make a better life for yourself. An altercation occurred when Mr Real Estate was 17 years old that lead to a felony conviction and had to serve two and half years in prison. It is during this time that he began writing music. Upon his release, he went straight to the booth and began recording music. He initially wanted to put money behind other artists but it wasn't working so he started rapping himself. The love he had for music he was determined to be in the music industry. Soon after he released his first hit single "Fly Ass Fck". That single helped him to achieve name recognition and credibility in the music community as a serious artist. The song quickly spread and was featured on the radio, in clubs around the local area and soon began to spread across the southern region. After releasing his first album, Tolerated But Hated, distributed by Select-O-Hits as an independent artist with his own label Unk Records, he realized he had support. He wanted to continue making music for people to enjoy. Only this time he wanted to take a different approach to releasing his music since he now has a better understanding of the industry. Recently landing a major deal with E1 Entertainment (Koch Records) he will be coming with a new vibe on some real life experiences. Signing to E1 he changed his name to Mr Real Estate due to legal issues. Mr Real Estate's primary goal is to adequately provide for his family. His work and story are based telling the truth about what he has done, experienced, or is currently going through. He has never recorded a mixtape and feels that it's a waste of good songs; however, its not to say he will never do one. Tupac, UGK, S.U.C., and Scarface are some of his favorite artists and motivators in the industry. Everyday is a working day and entails him striving to make another dollar. The last three years he has been struggling with his health due to diabetes. Mr Real Estate doesn't have a lot of opportunities for fun but when he does get the chance to relax, he likes to have a drink and chill. He's currently working on his next album Mr. Real Estate with his new hit single "Go Hard" ft. Jah Free. Other members to look forward to on his new label Mr Real Estate Entertainment (Boot Mobb Entertainment) include Jeffery Lynn and Young Jo. Mr Real Estate wants all other aspiring artist to know that success takes focus. Hard work and perseverance are critical to succeeding in the music industry and life in general.

Trill Entertainment Employees Reinstated for Murder Charges

A Louisiana state appeals court has reinstated attempted murder charges against Trill Entertainment managers, Melvin Vernell Jr., and Marcus Roach. The two, both 37, are charged in the 2005 shooting of local rapper Bruce "Beelow" Moore. Lawyers for both men have announced that they will appeal the ruling with the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Moore was shot in the face at point blank range on July 4, outside of the Shop Smart Music and Fashion store he owned. According to reports, the altercation stemmed from Moore allegedly bootlegging the work of artists on the Trill Entertainment label.

Although the men were charged not long after the shooting, a witness requested that the charges be dismissed in 2006. A judge ruled that prosecutors waited too long to move forward with a trial for the men, when they refiled in 2009. However, the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the 2-year statute of limitation began in 2009 after the latest charges, which include second-degree murder, armed robbery, illegal use of weapons and aggravated battery, were filed against the men.

"In this case, there is no evidence that the district attorney was avoiding the time limitation for commencement of trial or was flaunting his authority at the expense of the defendant," Circuit Judge Jeff Hughes, one of three judges ruling on the case, wrote for the panel on Wednesday. "The two-year time limitation for commencement of trial cannot continue to run under a prosecution that no longer exists. Rather, this time period began to run anew with the filing of a new bill of information."

Trill Entertainment, based in Baton Rouge, La., was founded by the late Pimp C in 2005. Fellow Trill artist, Lil' Boosie is currently in prison on first-degree murder charges stemming from a separate incident.

(BMF) BIG MEECH FLENORY: The Interview Part 1

It seems like a bygone era in Hip-Hop that will probably never been seen again.

It was the apex of the streets running into Hip-Hop. In 2006, we were down in Atlanta partying with Def Jam and Young Jeezy, celebrating the success of his debut release Thug Motivation and his pending second album, The Inspiration.

Everything was good, the parties were poppin, money was falling from the sky like a scene out of a rap video - except this was very real. Every Atlanta rapper was there - Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat, Lil Scrappy, Big Boi, Young Jeezy. I even recall seeing T.I. in the parking lot pulling up in one of his Rolls-Royce's.

While it was a party, there was tension in the air, because Jeezy had just dropped "Stay Strapped." In addition to the strippers gyrating around the club, there were at least 50 guys looming around the club wearing B.M.F. T-shirts. This wasn't an uncommon site at that point, B.M.F. seemed to be everywhere. Someone grabbed me and began leading me through a posse of men, some stopping and questioning me as I got closer to the center of the club. By the time we got there, Young Jeezy was clutching a bottle, looking out at the crowd with Big Meech and his assistant Yogi sitting on a couch next to him.

At the time, Yogi and I would email each other about Meech and the label side of B.M.F., and their artists, so we kicked it for a little. I gave Jeezy some dap and went over and had some brief words with Meech. For his fearsome reputation, he seemed like a cool guy. We all took sips from the complimentary bottles were were clutching and went back out to the party. By this point, the strippers were scooping up trash bags full of money, literally, trash bags full. The floor was so covered in cash that you couldn't see the ground. People were stuffing their pockets with one-dollar-bills and five-dollar-bills and they still couldn't get it all off the ground.

The next day, I paid for my breakfast with a fist-full of dollars.
Most of this is on tape somewhere, from the party to the parking lot, where gunshots rang out and sent everyone scattering. I know because I was being interviewed by a cameraman when the shooting began to clear out the crowd.

Later, we would learn that two dudes were killed in the parking lot that night. If you have read Mara Shalhoup's book B.M.F., you will understand the chain of events that shooting set-off and its indirect effect on Hip-Hop music.

Big Meech was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in running the $270 million cocaine distribution empire, which boasted connections to the Mexican drug cartels and sold tons of the drug around the United States from the late 1980's until his incarceration in 2008. I reconnected with Meech last week and had a great conversation with him.

Big Meech, born Demetrius Flenory, is being held at a Federal prison in Jessup, Georgia. Meech claims that he was not involved in the cocaine conspiracy side of things, he only ran the record label. His spirit has not been broken at all, in fact, he seemed very "comfortable" being in prison, making the best of his time, reading, exercising - and rolling with a B.M.F. crew in the prison, which he says has made things much easier. Big Meech is currently working hard on his appeal, which will be heading to the Supreme Court in Georgia for a final decision in 2011.
